Inauguration of the EntreClub and 1st Workshop on ‘Business Idea Competition 2019’

The Ceremonial Opening of the Entreclub of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and a workshop on Business Idea Competition 2019 which is also conducted by the EntreClub of the Faculty was held on 28th of November 2019 at the Sumangala Reading hall from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm with the participation of Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda; Founder of EntreClub and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. A large number of entrepreneurs From leading business companies o the country participated in the workshop as resource persons.

Students who are looking to get a business idea off the ground can now turn to The Entrepreneurship Development Unit for a helping hand. This hub offers students to build up their simple concept into a prosperous business plan and product developments until the commercialization.

Workshops, competitions, one-to-one mentoring and networking opportunities, as well as informative events such as seminars with successful entrepreneurs and startup companies will be supported to create and develop the Entrepreneurship culture at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Workshop on the Concept of Productivity Lean Manufacturing Methodology (5 S)

A Workshop on the Concept of Productivity Lean Manufacturing Methodology (5S) organized by the EntreClub of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was held on 09th December 2019 at the Auditorium of the Department of Economics.

The event was presided by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Shirantha Heekenda and the Guest Lecturer;  Mr. Kamal Bandara.

The main objective of this program was to introduce the 5S concept of productivity for the departments and undergraduates of the Faculty.

FHSS Undergraduate Open a Clothing Store at the University Premises

An Undergraduate Student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has opened her own clothing store at the university premises (Near Welfare division) with the support of the Entreclub of the faculty. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda wishes her to continue these kinds of own business ideas becoming a good example to other students as well.

Youth Social Enterprise Incubator Programme (YSE)

Youth Social Enterprise Incubator Programme (YSE) is organized by LSV as part of the Building Enterprises for Sustainable Economies supported by the British Council Sri Lanka. It is specially designed for 20 young social entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 30 interested in starting up businesses that address social or environmental issues. The duration of the program is 6 weeks and during this period, the entrepreneurs will be provided general and bespoke business support that includes business coaching, advice and training, and other resources through a structured and comprehensive the program delivered by experts and accredited by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) in the United Kingdom.
